Vietnamese Spring Rolls
The class decided at the beginning of the year that they would like to have cooking as a reward for good work and behaviour. I try to choose something that is healthy and they can easily make at home themselves. At the end of Term One we made stuffed potatoes. (This was because end of term fell close to St Pat's Day, so we thought potatoes were fitting).
Yesterday the class made Vietnamese Spring Rolls. Most children had never tried these before. They were given a choice of vegetable fillings, noodles, coriander, mint and three meats; chicken, ham and duck. Some turned their nose up at the duck but were pleasantly surprised that they liked it. We also had a choice of dipping sauces. It was a great lesson and I'm hoping a few of them will have a go at making them for their families on the holidays.
Next term they have put in an order for Lasagne.........we will wait and see.
