Maths 300

OK...... I haven't been very good at adding to this, have I?  I would love to add some photos of the work we have been doing in class this term but first I have to get parent permission to post them.

Our school subscribes to Maths 300, a site that promotes problem solving and open ended activities.  It has easy to follow lesson plans, examples of completed work and interactive whiteboard applications.

This week we have been completing the 4 Cube House activity.  The students have been working in groups to design a new housing estate.  All the designs must consist of a different arrangement of blocks.  The groups then had to use isometric paper to draw 3D representations of the designs and add these to an overall plan of the estate.  The next step was to cost each design and draw the different views of the houses.

We are thinking of taking it one step further by creating a web page to showcase our designs.............  (not being very technical, I will have to think about this)

The students have loved this activity.   I'll have to try to get some other photos up.
